Welcome to the Galesburg-Augusta Middle School

Galesburg-Augusta Middle School is tucked on top of the tallest point in the Village of Augusta Michigan, surrounded by 100 acres of wooden trails and open common space. The Middle School was built in 1977 and was dedicated to the future citizens of the community. Our current enrollment is approximately 360 student’s grades 5-8.

GAMS proudly boasts 40 professional staff members from Administrative, Secretarial, G-AEA, Para-Professionals, Building Aides, Custodial and Food Service groups/organizations. We as a staff identify that it is essential to strive to promote growth within our student’s interest and abilities, recognize and accept all students as unique individuals and teach towards those individual needs. Together with cooperation from parents or guardians, we promote positive changes in our student’s intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development.

It is the responsibility of G-AMS to provide an atmosphere which fosters positive self-esteem, increases self-confidence, and creates opportunities for decision-making by its students while providing for the development and awareness of personal needs and potentials.

In recognizing the rapid and profound physical changes seen in children from 5th to 8th grade, we find it is imperative that the curriculum offered adequately enables students to become aware of social and health issues which are vital to promoting a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, together we continually review courses and programming that best supports the needs of our students.

We host or participate in various educational and social activities for our students throughout the year. Events at G-AMS have included: 5th Grade Camp, 8th Grade Trip, Dances, Talent Show, Film Festival, Gryphon Place “Gatekeepers Program”, Prevention Works “JumpStart”, 5th/8th Science Fair, Career Day, Think College Early, Jump Rope for Heart, numerous Field Trips, Field Day, Halloween Parade, Girls on the Run, and much more. Our Student Council organization (StuCo) in conjunction with our parent organization (PASS) hosts many of the productions/events listed through funds directly raised by the student body.

We at G-AMS recognize that school is an integral part of the communities in which we serve. It is vital that there exists an active, voluntary, and cooperative effort among staff, parents, students and the community. To ensure the lines of communication are open please continue to utilize this website as a location to bridge any communication gaps that may exist and to strengthen those already established. Over time new information and tools will be added to support our common goal…”To be the preferred small school district in our region.”

We encourage you to visit Galesburg-Augusta Middle School and if you have any questions, please direct them to our principal, Mr. Jeremy Mansfield, at 269-484-2020.
