Due to the school shut down, we will switch back to FULL meal delivery for the next few weeks! This week meal delivery will be TOMORROW, TUESDAY, November 24th. ~ The buses will leave the HS at 10am & follow the normal afternoon bus routes. ~ There will also be pick up sites at the Primary & Middle schools from 10:30-11:30am. Wed. December 2nd, 9th & 16th: ~ The buses will leave the HS at 10AM & run the normal afternoon bus route. ~ There will be also be pick up locations at the PS & MS from 10:30-11:30AM. ~ The intent is to have the last full delivery on Wednesday, December 16th, weather permitting.

The Board of Education updated our Extended Covid-19 Learning Plan during the school board meeting last evening. Our PreK-7th grade students (Gold cohort) will return to face to face learning this Thursday (11/19) and Friday (11/20). The Enhancement Center will be open for the Cardinal Cohort. Our 8th - 12th grade students will be learning virtually now through December 8th. The Board of Education voted last evening to close all face to face learning for students as follows: ~ PreK-7th grades will learn 100% virtually on Monday, November 23rd & Tuesday November 24th, as well as the week after Thanksgiving, November 30th - December 4th. ~ Daycare will be available to families through the shutdown. ~ 8-12th grades will continue learning virtually through December 8th. PreK-7th grades will return to hybrid learning on December 7th, and 8-12th grades on December 10th. ** Meals will be distributed Tuesday, November 24th and Wednesday, December 2nd. Again...just continue to follow the SAME SCHEDULE FROM LAST WEEK. Tomorrow, we will move back to our Hybrid model with Wednesday-scheduled ZOOM meetings and face-to-face learning on Thursday and Friday for the Gold Cohort.

G- A Families, Because we are waiting on test results that likely will not come back until later this afternoon, we will not hold face to face learning tomorrow, Tuesday, November 17. Students will continue to learn remotely. All buildings will be closed to students. Depending on the results, we may still need to contact trace tomorrow. HS students (9-12th grades) will now be 100% virtual through December 8th. The HS return date will be Thursday, December 10th. Attention 6th and 7th grade Students and Parents: As we move out of fully-virtual learning next week and back to the HYBRID model, the virtual portion of the HYBRID model will be updated in order to better meet the needs of our online students. **6th grade core teachers will still record all lessons and make those available in Google Classrooms. In addition, these teachers will be available via ZOOM from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:32 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. During these times, online learners can "chime in" and ask questions, get clarification, or touch base with the teacher. **7th grade core teachers will be live-streaming lessons each class period for students to attend via ZOOM. Students should follow their class schedules and ZOOM at appropriate times. For instance, if a student has math 1st hour, he/she should be ZOOMING with the math teacher, starting at 8: 17 a.m. Live-streaming each class period will allow for more interaction with the teachers and provide an opportunity for real-time questions and answers. If a student misses the ZOOM class period, he/she should view the video recording of the lesson and complete the posted assignment.

Monday’s 8th grade boys basketball game has been cancelled. The game will be made up on Thursday, December 3. 4:00 start. The 7th grade will play as scheduled on Monday starting at 4:15. Go Rams!

*** WE NEED YOUR HELP! *** Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools will continue to serve nutritious meals through this school year. All children ages 18 and under may receive meals at no cost. This includes both breakfast and lunch. In this time of uncertainty, it is even more important to stay as healthy as possible. School meals are being provided at NO charge to all students this year. Even though all meals are available at no cost during this school year, we still NEED families to complete the free and reduced meal application. The collection of this information is CRITICAL as it is directly tied to state and federal educational funding for G-A Schools to support our students. Applications are available online at www.lunchapp.com. A free and reduced lunch application will be included with every meal we distribute this Friday 11/6. To all 6th/7th grade students and families: After careful consideration of feedback from a recent parent survey, we have decided to address two of the most prevalent issues with regard to distance / virtual learning. This is of paramount importance as we move forth for the remainder of this week and through next week, 100%-virtually teaching and learning. Unmanageable student workload was the primary concern for many. In addition, lack of interaction with and/or availability of teachers was also of great concern. Henceforth, the academic team has devised a more manageable plan that addresses both of these concerns. This plan has been posted in each of the Google Classrooms and has been shared with and explained to students. You may access it through the "documents" section on the middle school page .

All G-A Middle School students should log in to their Google Classrooms today for schedules, instruction, and assignments.

Covid-19 Update 11/2 GACS has identified a total of five (5) G-A individuals who tested positive this weekend & today. They include: 1 high school student, 1 high school teacher, 1 middle school teacher/coach, 1 middle school support staff & 1 primary school teacher have tested positive for Covid-19. All contract tracing has occurred. Unfortunately, like most workplaces, we also have staff who are quarantined because of exposure OUTSIDE of school. ALL staff & students who have been exposed MUST quarantine for 14 days. As difficult a decision as this is, we are unable to staff our buildings for in person instruction. • At this time learning for Pre-K – 12th grade students will occur VIRTUALLY the rest of this week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (No School Friday). • 4th – 12th grade students will learn virtually through Friday, Nov. 13, 2020. • MS/HS students will return to school on Monday Nov. 16, 2020. • The Enhancement Center and Daycare will remain OPEN. Covid-19 Update 11/1 We have had 2 staff members test positive for Covid-19 this weekend. We need to close our HS for tomorrow, Monday November 2. We need this time to further contract trace any other students or adults who may have been a close contact. The HS building will not be open for in person learning. ~ All of the Cardinal HS students will learn remotely tomorrow. ~ The primary school, enhancement center and the middle school will all be open.
