Tonight’s Youth Rocket Football camp is cancelled because of inclement weather. Girls Youth volleyball camp is still scheduled for tonight.
Remember that practice officially begins August 22nd for MS sports (volleyball and cross country) Physicals are due on the MHSAA form before practices can start. The form must be dated after April 15, 2022. Any questions, let me know.

Middle School Walk to School Event is tomorrow. Students riding the bus will be dropped off at Augusta Library. Students must be wearing the Walk to School wristband to get off the bus. Students may get dropped off at the library. We will start walking at 8:00 sharp. It’s a 15 minute walk to school. We will have police presence for safety during the event.
A decision will be made by 6:30 if the weather is questionable. The goal is to not walk in the rain. 😊

Dear G-A Families,
Earlier today, we worked with our students to engage in a peaceful protest regarding the non renewal of a teacher’s contract. We saw this as a teachable moment about civic engagement. We would like to commend the students who peacefully participated in the protest and then returned to class.
Unfortunately, we had a number of students who chose not to return to class at the end of the allotted time. Their decision and their actions caused a disruption in the learning environment and created a significant safety concern. The school was put under a brief lockdown. The County Sheriff’s Department recommended we dismiss students in grades 8-12 early to diffuse the situation. Sheriff Deputies remained outside to monitor students who chose to remain outside and ensure their safety. There were no reported injuries.
Sheriff's deputies will continue to be on-site Monday morning out of an abundance of caution. Crisis team members will also be on hand to offer support for students and staff who may need assistance processing this incident.
Administrators will be following up with students who chose not to return to class, and they will face disciplinary action as outlined in the student handbook.
We are optimistic that we can move forward from this incident as a school community and finish the school year on a positive note.
